We can help you

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a versatile and evidence-based therapeutic approach that empowers individuals to manage their emotions, build distress tolerance, cultivate mindfulness, and build healthier relationships. Whether you are facing specific mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression, or simply seeking tools for general well-being, DBT offers a structured and effective framework for personal growth and emotional resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured therapeutic approach that addresses the interconnected relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Its fundamental premise is that our thoughts influence our emotions and behaviors, and by identifying and changing negative thought patterns, individuals can achieve positive outcomes. CBT utilizes cognitive restructuring, behavioural activation, problem solving skills, and exposure to address stress, anxiety, depression, anger, and other mental health issues.

Although widely recognized for it’s profoundly effective treatment of PTSD, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR) has specific protocols to directly address, anxiety, depression, stress, grief, panic, OCD, and other major mental health conditions. EMDR would not be used as a stand alone treatment, but would be incorporated with other therapeutic models to bolster therapeutic effectiveness if deemed important to the individual process.

Psychodynamic therapy is a therapeutic approach that traces its roots to psychoanalysis. While psychodynamic therapy shares some foundational principles with psychoanalysis, it has evolved over time to incorporate contemporary insights and techniques. This approach explores the interplay between unconscious thoughts, emotions, and early life experiences to gain a deeper understanding of current challenges and behaviors. This approach gets right to the root causes of an individual’s anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and other mental health conditions.

Our Approach to Depression Therapy

It’s no secret that the demands of life can be overwhelming. When stress is too high and healthy coping strategies are minimal, many people can struggle with regulating their emotions for a variety of reasons. Anger, panic, and rage can take over a person, leading to unwanted reactions and behaviours, which may cause distress to the self or others. Individuals often feel out of control and helpless when emotions become too intense and overwhelming. We use a unique approach, informed by evidence-based treatment models, which promotes mastery in various coping strategies to help regain control of emotions.

Depression, fear, anxiety, and general life stress are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that people can experience. Navigating life without a strong sense of hope, meaning, purpose, and confidence can lead to persistent emotional pain and will impact overall happiness and well-being. Working with a skilled therapist is the most effective strategy to understand where symptoms of anxiety and depression originate, and develop healthy coping skills to manage negative thoughts and emotions. In our clinical practice, we use evidence-based treatment models; specifically, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy to treat depression, anxiety, stress and other mood disorders.
